Learn & Connect: Why Most Entrepreneurs Don’t Know What They’re Doing – 23 Abril – 8:30 - Presencial
“Entrepreneurship is risky mainly because so few of the so-called entrepreneurs know what they are doing,” wrote Peter Drucker in Innovation and Entrepreneurship (1985). Today, access to knowledge is everywhere: books, podcasts, accelerators, and AI tools, yet only a small fraction of startups ever become scaleups. Why?
Join Professor Joe Haslam of IE Business School, a six-time co-founder and leading researcher on startup and SME growth, as he shares 40 evidence-based reasons why most entrepreneurs struggle and what successful founders do differently. Because the entrepreneurial mindset is not just for founders, it’s a practical way to approach problems, spot opportunities, and create value in any industry and in everyday life
Professor Joe Haslam is an entrepreneur and scaleup expert with over two decades of experience helping founders and leaders grow high-impact businesses. He is the Executive Director of the Owners Scaleup Program at IE Business School, as well as Academic Director of the Global Scaleup Program in partnership with the American University of Beirut. He also directs the Scaling Up for Growth Programme at the William J. Clinton Leadership Institute at Queen’s University Belfast and teaches at NYU Stern School of Business.
